I can finally confirm that in a few weeks I’m going to be moving to Falmouth to study at University College Falmouth!

I’ve got all of my accommodation, sorted out at last as I didn’t get into halls on campus. But a trip down to Falmouth yesterday sorted me out with a home in hours!

I’m so excited I can’t wait! Of course it is bittersweet as I have to leave my family behind…which is going to be upsetting, my Mum and Dad are my best friends and my support, but of course I will be going up and down visiting people as much as I can.

Finally 18 Part 2- Surprise Party!

Better late than never..... here is the second installment of my birthday photos....

For the past few months, I had felt as though something was going on, without me knowing... like my mum had installed a password onto her phone and her and my nan were zooming off to secret 'appointments' and my friends were also acting very secretive.

On Friday the 8th of April, the day before my birthday, my two best friends arranged a surprise for me, all I knew was that I had be fairly dressed up and I was going round to my friends house before hand.

My dress is another of my Mum's fabulous creations! I wanted a dress with a vintage/retro feel but I also wanted it to be modern. This dress was just perfect! And I'm in love with my leopard print shoes!! <3

Yesterday was Mother's Day, so of course me and my brother's did everything we could to make her day as relaxing as possible.

I spent Saturday night baking cupcakes as me and my brother's had bought our Mum a cupcake stand, cupcake recipe book and a sweet little cup and saucer. I was shocked at how tasty they came out! Usually I'm a rubbish cook, the cakes either explode or don't rise at all, however this time they were perfect! Although I'm not entirely sure what I did differently!!

Chocolate flavour with chocolate decorations (I made them by melting chocolate and then setting it in swirly shape).

Westminster, London

A few weeks ago (23/03/11) I went on a Psychology trip to Westminster in London. We sat in on a lecture by the Psychologist Professor David Buss, who talked about his research regarding dating behaviour, which is part of my Psychology course, so it was really interesting. And at lunchtime we were let loose in Westminster!

I love London! I don't know if anyone else feels the same, but to me it's always a bit of a shock going there, as in comparison to London, the town I live in feels tiny! But I would love to live in London for a while when I'm older even if it's just for a few months.

Anyway here are some of the many photos I took that day...

I've Passed My Driving Test!

On Wednesday 30th March, on my 3rd attempt, I finally passed my driving test with 1 minor!! I'm so happy!!

I'm very superstitious when it comes to lucky numbers, mine's the number 3. I specifically booked my test on the 30/03/11!! It was my 3rd attempt and my examiner was the 3rd to come out into the waiting room! I think it was meant to be...

Last weekend we were finally brave enough to unleash Bernard out in the garden ! It sounds ridiculous as he's a rabbit but he literally can't be trusted outside, he would just escape. I think that even if we put him in a run he would still try and dig himself out of there!! Whilst in my local pet shop I noticed that they sell rabbit leads, first of all I thought this was hysterical, but then I realised it was genius, and exactly what we needed for Bernard. A hour later Bernard was running around in our garden and loving it and with this great weather at the moment he's going to be out there all of the time!

Here are some of the many photos I took of him on his lead! Hahaha! But isn't he cute!!

PS. His lead isn't pink!! I thought that would be too much social suicide for him by a lovely little pink lead with daises on, so I bought the red and white one. Although it now looks pink in the photos!! Poor thing!

Salcombe

A couple of weeks ago we returned to one of my favourite places in the UK, Salcombe! Myself and my parents and brothers and a large group of our friends have been going to Salcombe since I can remember. My Mum and Dad were going before me and the boys were here! But for the past couple of years we haven't spent the week down there, in July like we used in years before, mainly due to problems with getting time off from school and exams etc. It was lovely popping down there even if it was just for a day, it just feels like home as soon as I get there.

But I was surprised at how materialistic it has become down there. There used to be only a few select shops, they were always expensive but now it's crazy, the shops they have there,(Jack Wills, Quba Sails, Crew, Henri Llyod, White Stuff etc.) with the average price of say a top is around £50 upwards! Some of the people who go there are also very snobby, not all, but quite a large percentage now. I just remember Salcombe when I was younger, (gosh I sound like an old person!!) it just seemed so much more relaxed.

Anyway I'm not bothered by the odd snob or expensive shop, I just love Salcombe, and can't you see why from these photos?

When Did I Get So Girly?

It occurred to me the other day,when did I get so girly? I used to love studs and had been attempting to work the 'rock chick' look, (Kate Moss, rather than Jimmy Hendrix!) for longer than I can remember. I used to avoid anything floral, but now it's everywhere and I can't help but get caught in the 'floral' trend. So now everything is pink and floral!

On Wednesday me and my friend Talia, went to see the film " I Am Number Four" which is a sci-fi/action film. It was ok.... but the story line felt like it had been done so many times before, with nods to Twilight; the love story where they can't be together. Alex Pettyfer plays the character 'John' who has super powers, and Dianna Argon plays Sarah who's just a normal, quite plain girl, they fall in love etc, you get the story. There are also nods to Stars Wars; lightsaber anyone?

Although the film did have a really good soundtrack of popular current tracks; Adele, The Black Keys (see below), The XX and Kings of Leon, along with others, the way they used the songs wasn't original and at times they didn't really seem to fit in with the scene. However one thing they did do well was the scary Mogadorians. I have a thing about gill-like things....urghhh.... I just hate them, and these 'monster's had them on their face is was disgusting!

But let's be honest the true reason we went was to see Alex Pettyfer's beautiful face!! ;) And if rumors are true, the next film in the saga is being released in the summer. Good times.....

Bernard has been his usual cute/evil self. This past week his most shocking antic has been jumping inside the toilet! It is hysterical, but I'm just worried that he really is going to hurt himself soon. His favourite game at the moment is to bite my hand as I go to put food in his bowl....and he bites hard!

I have heard from all of my University choices! And I have all five offers, I guess I just need to choose where to go now.... :S

It was my brothers birthday last week. As the photo shows my mum made them a rugby 'style' cake which went a bit odd! ha ha ha ! It was hysterical!! :D

This is my new favourite band. I first heard about The Black Keys after their song 'Chop and Change' featured on the Twilight Eclipse soundtrack and I've been obsessed ever since. But I've decided 'Tighten Up' is my favourite song at the moment, I'm literally listening to it on repeat and I couldn't believe it when I saw I Am Number Four and this song was in one of the scenes....spooooky! I think that they're going to be huge.....just wait and see.....

We had another Sixth Form social a few weeks ago and it was a bit of a disaster. My friend Talia had quite a bit too drink beforehand, and passed out before we even got there! It was really scary and has really made me think twice about the amount I drink, and especially to look out for others. I know you always hear about how dangerous alcohol is, but it isn't until you're faced with the possible consequences that you truly realise how dangerous it is.

A few weeks ago I went along to one of my brothers rugby matches. I hadn't been to one for ages , as I've had so much work recently. But I was really shocked to see just how much they had improved since the last time I had watched them play. I really enjoyed it, and it gave me a great excuse to try out my new camera on burst mode!

University College Falmouth

As you've probably noticed I've been absent for a while, but I assure you I have a very good excuse why..... I had my first university interview last Friday!!

You will probably remember from my previous post, my favourite Uni course at my favourite Uni was cancelled due to the lack of applicants, which I find crazy! Anyway fast forward a few weeks and I have now decided to apply for the Creative Events Management course, which I am now very excited about. It almost sounds better than the PR course I was originally applying too.

My interview was last Friday, so on Thursday evening me, my Mum and Nan travelled down to Falmouth. By the time we arrived it was 9:30, but I honestly couldn't sleep or even sit still for 10 minutes because I was so nervous!!

In the morning we left the Travel Lodge in St Austell at 8am. When arrived at the Tremough Campus (which is on the top of a hill) it was so windy, as soon as I stepped out of the car, my hair (which I had spent ages blow-drying) was completely wrecked! I suppose there's nothing you can do about it! I had my new outfit on (I'll post photos soon) and literally felt on top of world.

We were taken off with students who were already in their first year of studying the course. They gave us a tour around the campus, it was surprising how much I could remember, it felt so familiar and comfortable. We then arrived at our interview room.

There were 3 other girls, 4 all together including me. We had about 20 minutes to ask the students any questions we had about the course and uni life in general. Our interviewer arrived after the question session, and he was really friendly. To be honest the whole interview was very friendly and relaxed. Falmouth is definitely my type of place! I won't bore you with all the details of the interview, but we did have chocolates....in an interview!!!

After the main group interviews we were individually interviewed. Within the first first 3 minutes, he told me that he was going to make me conditional (you have to get certain grades to get in) offer as he was really impressed with my personal statement!! Then after I had shown him my portfolio of blog pages, photos etc. he said really they would like to give me an unconditional (you get in whatever your grades) offer! But don't get too excited...... as he then went on to say that they are not to making unconditional offers anymore as they have found that some students just give up on their A levels, and that definitely isn't what they want to encourage! The interview ended with him telling me that I need to get the certain amount of grade/ucas points but not too worry as along as I give them a ring, I still should be fine getting in. But of course I WILL get the grades I need to get in!

I was so overwhelmed afterwards as I have so much riding on this one interview and I knew that if I messed this up I don't know what I would have done! To celebrate we went to Rick Steins restaurant in Falmouth. It was delicious!! We had a little wonder around all of the shops, but before we knew it, it was 4pm and we had to leave Falmouth and head back up the motorway.

I still can't believe that the next time I go to Falmouth, it will be on my own, to live and study there! Feeling both very nervous and excited. Just trying not to think about the nerves too much at the moment.

Last Saturday I did my first fashion photo shoot for my best friend Talia, as she wanted some photos for her fashion portfolio.

I spent the night before looking through magazines, I even found a French Elle magazine I had bought last summer.,as I wasn't really too sure what to expect and I really just wanted to get some inspiration, but as it goes I didn't use any of the magazine ideas in the end.

It's Just The Way Life Goes.

Warning whingy post ahead!

The past couple of weeks haven't been my finest if I completely honest. I don't usually like to write negative posts on here, as nobody wants to listen to it, do they? But on this occasion I'm going to, mostly just so I can get it all off of my chest!

It started a week ago on Tuesday, I had my first driving test. And failed. I had only three minors out of a possible fifteen, however ten minutes before the end of the test I was waved on by another driver, to say that I could go, I didn't realise because of the reflection on the car's windscreen! I was there for thirty seconds, and held up two cars but it cost me £100!! Not impressed.

On the same Tuesday evening I had a text message from my boss explaining that for the foreseeable future I will be working every other weekend, as they aren't expecting the cafe to be very busy. So now I have half the wages I used to have, and I still have to pay out for driving lessons and a driving test! Ridiculous. It couldn't of all happened at a better time really.

To top it all off I have just received an email from Falmouth explaining that they are no longer doing the Public Relations course that I applied for as they hadn't had enough applicants. Falmouth was absolutely my first choice, after visiting there at the end of October I've been getting really excited about Uni and living near the beach, basically starting fresh. Although now I am really unsure about what is going to happen. I have two other offers from Bath Spa University to do a Media Studies course, which I don't think is really for me, as I really want to do something more specific. I do have another offer from Bournemouth University, which is the best place to do Public Relations in the UK, but when I visited it I just couldn't imagine myself living there. I just didn't have a gut instinct.And will I get the grade to get in? So who knows what I'm going to do?

Last night was my Sixth Form annual Winter Ball, and it was 100% better than last year's!

I started the night with my two best friends, who came round to my house for pre-ball drinks.

I literally couldn't find a dress I liked anywhere, so my mum made this dress for me :) but my shoes are from New look. Thank you so much Mum!

I was so excited when I saw my lovely friend Ella at the ball, I haven't seen her since September, as she's gone to university in Newcastle, and we spent almost an hour catching up, it was so to see her. I missed her a lot, as if I need advice on anything, she will always be honest with me. We just get on so well...

I heart Barry M

I don't know if you can remember my post from a few weeks ago on the new Barry M Instant Nail Effects nail polish? (click here if you don't have a clue what I'm going on about) .....
It was featured on the Barry M Facebook page!!!!

I was so excited! This happened over a month ago now, but I still feel shocked out of all of the blogs they could have featured, they chose mine!?!

I didn't actually realise that it was featured on Facebook until I looked at my stats from the that day and I was shocked to see how many I'd had! Especially as my blog hits had gone down significantly around this time as I hadn't posted anything for quite a while. I was even more shocked when I saw where most of my blog traffic had come from..... Facebook! So after doing a bit of searching I found it.... Since then my blog hits per day have gone up considerably, and there is no doubt that, that is my most viewed blog post ever!

Christmas Countdown: Day 12

Today has been a fairly regular Sunday. Ollie and Sam had a rugby match this morning, and they played a team they had not played before, which was both exciting and scary for them.

The pitch had one of the loveliest views I've ever seen, well on a rugby pitch, that is, and trust me I've seen my fair share of pitches!

We were so lucky with the weather as well, beautiful sunshine for the whole day, and it's beginning to get a bit warmer after the really cold weather we've been having for the past month or so, although they are saying on the news that it will all be back again, and a white Christmas is now inevitable. But we are bound to be the ones with a rainy Christmas, rather than a preferred snowy one.

My mum and I were late in getting to the rugby match, as my Auntie Linda's and my Mum's friend Lisa was over from California. It was was lovely to see her as I don't think we've seen in about four years, it's crazy.

Talking to Lisa about living in America, from an English point of view is hysterical. She says that their local shopping mall is so huge some people actually walk around it for exercise! I was also very surprised to hear that until she came back to the UK last week, she didn't know anything about the Chilean miners! I would have thought that they would definitely have coverage of such a huge story, I can remember eating my breakfast and they had live coverage of each miner being retrieved! Lisa said that most of the news is about celebrities over there.

In the afternoon my Mum and I took a trip in Bristol to do a bit more Christmas shopping. I think I'm almost done now, but I have left the most difficult to last, as I still haven't bought anything for my Dad or brothers! :S

This is one of my favourite nail polishes at the moment, and the best part? It was free! Well actually it cost me £2, as it was inside December's issue of Glamour magazine. Unfortunately you're probably too late to get it now! :( But they often include free Nails Inc Varnish's, this time I bought the magazine twice, to get two different colours, as they really are such good quality, and at £2 you can't go wrong.

On the Nails Inc website you can buy it for £11. If you were to pay full price, I can't decide whether it's worth the money or not?

On one hand (pun not intended!!!) it does make your nails look very shiny, like all Nails Inc. varnish's, but it seems to peel off very easily. I am a bit of a 'picker' as I love fiddling with my nails, I used to bite them, so I don't know if I've replaced one habit with another! If i get a tiny, tiny chip on my nail it's really easy just to peel off the rest of the varnish. However saying this it doesn't really chip, only if you're doing manual labor!!

I think this colour is excellent if you don't necessarily want to match your nails to outfit, if you want them to be more understated. If you look at most catwalks or perfume campaigns, the models very often have the "mannequin effect" nails, this varnish is excellent if you're going for this look.

Christmas Countdown: Day 2

Today is my other Auntie's birthday!! A big Happy Birthday to my Auntie Linda!

I had an in service day from sixth form! I had decided that I would just stay in and all my work done, but I had a phone call from my Nan and Grandad, and they wanted to take me out for the day! :) They're so sweet! We went to my Great-Auntie's house to deliver her Christmas cards to her. After that we drove to a craft shop, where I picked up a few things to make some Christmas cards.

Mum had a bit of fun before she left for work.

As a surprise my Nan and Grandad took me to a cafe bus. The bus is owned by the cafe which I work for and it has only just opened. It's parked up in on a farm shop in the middle of the countryside. It was beautiful, especially with the snow surrounding us.

On the way back home we had to go down a steep hill, as you can see from the photo above, it was lovely and snowy, although we were actually half way down the hill when I took the photo, so there wasn't as much snow, as there was right at the top of the hill.

It's finally December..... The Christmas Countdown begins! Only 24 days to go, feeling a little bit scared now, as I've basically done no Christmas shopping what so ever! Ooops!

It's my Auntie Vicki's birthday today, so Happy Birthday to her! :) I love the photo above of my mum on the left and Auntie Vicki on the right, when they were younger! :)

I Heart The Snow

On Friday afternoon the snow finally arrived! After seeing Scotland on the news I was very jealous of their snow, and desperate for some to fall in my town.

My trusty UGG boots, kept my feet very warm when I went shopping.Although when the snow first starting falling on Friday afternoon, it was more like sleet and wasn't settling at all, but a couple of hours later the snow was finally setting! :)

But as you can tell from these photos, it's been so cold the past couple of days, (it was -5 this morning) the snow looks as though it's ice and the floor is sooo slippery.

The weather forecast says that there's supposed to be more snow at 9pm this evening, so only another 32 minutes too go! We're also supposed to have snow tomorrow morning at 3am, hopefully I will be snuggled up in my bed by this time, but I have a driving lesson first thing tomorrow morning.... :S little bit scared as I don't want to be driving a car on a ice skating rink!

I would like to introduce our newest member of our family, Bernard, the lion-head rabbit!! After going to look for Christmas decorations, at our local garden centre last Monday, me and my mum fell in love with him! But my Dad said definitely not! But 4 days later we went back to get him! Seriously how could we have left him there?? And today over a week later my dad has only just smoothed him...ooops! :( I think we pushed him too far? Aren't dad's supposed to let their daughter's have whatever they want though..;)

Bernard is a naughty little thing he's 10 weeks old and just wants to climb on everything, but he totally gets away with it! He just too cute, how could you be mad at that little fluff ball?

Barry M Instant Nail Effects Varnish

Hello I'm Lucy and I'm a nail painting addict. Literally.

I'm not too sure what started my addiction/obessesion, it just happened. Ever since this unknownn event I honestly can't leave the house without chip free nails! So the other day when I notice my Auntie's nails were painted like a zebra , I wanted them! It turns out she used Barry M Instant Nail Effects Varnish on top of her normal varnish, which I remembered seeing in Boots (my favourite shop!) a few weeks earlier. That was it I had to buy it!

Let me appologise in advance for my hideously short nails in these photos, they had literally all snapped off the day I bought the nail varnish!! :(

You start off by doing a normal layer of nail varnish in your favourite colour, I think that Barry M nail varnish's work the best, I did try it with a yellow Rimmel nail varnish I already had and it didn't work as well.

I chose to use Barry M nail varnish in Matt White number 66, so that I could try and create a zebra print design.

You can do one or two coats of your base colour, it's up to you.

Introducing the Instant Nail Effects (number 311) it only comes in black, but I think that any other colour wouldn't be as effective. It is £3.99 a £1 more than the normal nail varnish's. It seems to be a lot more watery than their normal varnishs, although after leaving it for a week it has seemed to thicken up more now.

When painting the Instant Nail Effects varnish onto your nail, Barry M reccomends that you don't go over the same area again, which is pretty difficult, I think they mean you don't need to do two coats, as it would ruin the effect.

I would really suggest getting a lot of varnish on the brush, as the first time I did it the results weren't as good, as I used only a small amount of varnish.

Watch this video as it shows how the fast the pattern appears, it's insane.

Here's the finished nail. The black feels really bumpy on the surface of the nail, so I would really suggets using a shiny top coat to make them look really professional. I love love loooove this nail polish!

Weekend Near The Sea In Cornwall

A couple of weekends ago me, my Mum, Dad and brothers all spent the weekend in the beautiful place that is Cornwall. We were just going to go down to Falmouth for day, so that I could have a look around the university, but then we just decided that we might as well stay down there for a couple of nights if my Dad had driven all the way.

On the first night me and my Mum went to put our pj's on, when we walked out of our rooms we realised we had picked the same ones!! hahaha! I know they're not the most flattering things ever, but trust me it was so cold and they were so worth it!!

On the Saturday morning we drove from just outside of Padstow,where we were staying, down to Falmouth to look around the Uni. I was not disappointed with the University, it was much, much better than I had imagined, the buildings were all so modern, as was the accommodation and the course, was exactly what I want to do. So all round I was very impressed. Falmouth is definitely my first choice, the beach may had persuaded me a tiny bit as well!!

After looking around the Uni, we had a nice walk through Falmouth, but it was chucking it down and the boys were already getting bored after looking round the university in the morning, so we just decided to have some food then, then make our way back to the warmth of the caravan!

(This one turned out a bit blurry in the end. )

Of course we went to a little pasty shop on the main street in Falmouth, they were delicious. Don't they always taste so much better when you're actually in Cornwall?!

On Sunday we drove through Padstow on our way home. I really like Padstow, but it just felt so different to the last time I was here, although that was over seven years ago! We were discussing about how things always seem so much smaller when you go back when you're older, I can remember when I was about 8/9 years old, we stayed next to a fish and chip shop actually in Padstow and I always thought that Padstow seemed huge, now it actually feels very small.

Ohhh I love being near the sea!

France - Part One

Finally here is the first installment of our holiday photos...

Our journey started on Sunday afternoon, we made the 5 hour trip to Dover to get on the ferry.

Here's Ollie just after we got on the ferry, we got the prime position right at the front :)

The best part of the ferry ride was definitely spotting one of best friends at the other side of the ferry cafe! What are the chances of that happening? She was on her way to Poland for an orchestra tour, she had another 12 hour journey in front of her!

After arriving in France we drove to our first stop Rouen, where we stayed for the night as dad had a long drive in front of him. We stayed in a Formula 1 hotel/motel, which was basic but literally just what we needed. I shared a room with my mum and we had a laugh at Friends, which they were playing on the TV but it was dubbed over in French! So frustrating.

On Monday afternoon we arrived at Groléjac, where our friends were staying in a house right beside a beautiful lake.

Me and the boys, Aaron and Natalie all walked over to the other side of the lake, where there was a beach, and I got the first rays of the French sun, and I wouldn't be lying if I said it was lush!!

In the evening me and Nats forced the all the boys to watch One Tree Hill as they had Sky in their house.

We all thought that Andy and my Dad look like a 'couple' stood on the balcony, this made me laugh too much!

So the next leg of our journey began! We drove through this really beautiful town although I really can't remember what it's called. :(

After hours and hours of being in the car we arrived at our final destination for the next week, La Teste de Buch outside of Bordeaux. It was very sunny and very hot, just what we were waiting for! After a few minor problems, such as wrong size pitch for our tent etc... we were all set up.

The next day the weather wasn't so great, it was very overcast but still very humid. So we decided to drive along to a nearby town, Pyla Sur Mer.

We had a walk along the beach and dipped our toes in the very cold sea!

The town had a nice atmosphere, very chilled out. And they had lots of lovely, but very expensive shops.

Although we were staying in a tent, it's pretty much impossible to survive in 30'c without a fridge, but we did happen to take a rather large fridge! Where else are we supposed to keep the beer, chocolate mousses and iced tea?!

The campsite was right at the bottom of Europe's largest sand, Dune du Pyla. It really is incredible, although you won't be able to see the real scale of it, I hope my photos give a good enough perspective of how huge it really is.

The campsite was in the middle of a pine forest and it's pretty much all you can see from the top of the dune, it literally goes on forever. But I just couldn't get myy head round how dry the ground was, I can imagine how they can have forest fires in the middle of the summer.

Thursday was the first day we braved it and headed to the beach! You know what it's like on the first proper day of your holiday, whilst getting into your bikini/swimsuit you think to yourself "if only I'd done those 100 sit ups every day!!".

The moral of the first day on the beach: WEAR A LOT OF SUN CREAM!! I didn't do this and was the most sun burnt I have ever been in my life, to the point where I couldn't sleep! :( But everyone else found it very funny, even more so as earlier in the day when my dad was putting sun cream on my back, I said to him "don't put too much sun cream on, I DO actually want to get a tan." Guess I'm the one who paid for it!

This is Sam climbing up the sand dune, trust me it's an absolute killer! It takes about 5 minutes to walk up and about 30 seconds to run back down again.

We spent Friday afternoon on the lake Étang de Cazaux et de Sanguinet. The water was shallow just off of the beach, it was quite literally like a bath, but because I was so sun burnt I had to sit under an umbrella, fully clothes all day!

In the evening we climbed up the sand dune to watch the sunset. It would have been beautiful but..... we were 5 minutes too late!!
